Frequently Asked Questions . . .
. . . About Dances and Lessons

A decision to embrace Lindy Hop Swing opens up an entirely new list of FAQ's about what to expect when you attend a Lindy Hop dance or lesson. Since none of us were born Lindy Hop swing dancers, we have all experienced this rite of passage and remember well our own anticipation prior to that first encounter with dance instruction. In fact, as you meet and get to know other dancers, a good question to ask is "how did you become involved with Lindy Hop Swing?" You may be surprised to learn that their story may be similar to yours.

Listed below are some questions commonly asked by interested non-dancers who have decided that Lindy Hop Swing may be right for them. Clicking a question will open a pop-up window that displays both the question and its answer.

  • What should I wear?

  • Do I need special shoes?

  • What if no one asks me to dance?

  • Are you sure I don't need a partner? How can I take a lesson without     a partner?

  • Will I get special attention if I need it?

  • We are a couple, and I read that during lessons you will be asked to     rotate partners. Why? Can we remain out of the rotation?

  • What about private lessons?
